Helping people, companies, and groups, grow through professional coaching, learning and development, and expert facilitation
Professional Coaching can help you become more self aware, identify goals, remove what's in the way of you achieving those goals, and help you get the best out of your life. It's about partnering with you by identifying and highlighting the skills you have within, while giving you the tools to achieve both your personal and professional goals.
Whether it's strategic planning for your company, conflict resolution, team building, or simply getting the most out of your group/team, using a qualified facilitator will help make possible the purpose of the group using a range of collaborative processes. My role as facilitator is to help the group hear each other, come to understandings, pool their wisdom, make wise decisions, and achieve their purpose.
DISC ADVANCED® behavioural assessment systems is the latest and most advanced psychometric assessment system in the world. If you haven't watched "The Princess Bride", you could probably stop reading now. For the rest, read on.
I've just finished watching the final season of Homeland, starring Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin (Yes, I'm a bit slow on my binge watching). Over the series I had become a fan of Patinkin in his role as Saul Berenson so I decided to go searching for some clips of Patinkin, eventually finding myself down the rabbit hole. Amongst all the interviews and shows he has done, I came across a chat he had with Stephen Colbert. Patinkin was discussing one of his most famous early roles, playing Inigo Montoya in the film "The Princess Bride". A swordsman who was out for revenge, tracking down a man with six fingers who killed his father. (And yes, one of my favourite movies)
This film has achieved what you could call cult status, with not a day going by when a fan of the film doesn't approach Patinkin to quote his most famous line. "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die". But in his chat with Colbert, Patinkin says that people should be quoting another line from the film. A line he says has much more significance. After killing the man with six fingers, he muses about his future.
"Is very strange. I have been in the revenge business so long, now that it's over, I don't know what to do with the rest of my life."
And it got me thinking. How many people put an enormous amount of time and effort into their job, partner, or hobby that when it comes to an end, they simply don't know what to do? And especially during the last 12 months where people have been forced out of jobs due to COVID, finding themselves with no other skills and back on the job market. It can be a very stressful time.
I recently wrote about the importance of up-skilling, multi-skilling, and "future proofing" yourself, so if you do find yourself out of the job you love, you are prepared and skilled to try something else. It's one of those things that you think will never happen to you, or you keep putting off that study or training because of a lack of motivation, or that you think everything will be fine.
We've all been in training or development sessions where you're told to think about a 5 or 10 year plan, but it can sometimes be hard to imagine what you will be doing in 5 or 10 years. With my work as a Professional Coach, I spend a lot of time with clients working on goal setting and creating a compelling future, so you can start imagining yourself in that future and you can start setting yourself an action plan that will help get you there. It can be a rewarding experience to help you imagine that perfect future and move you closer to it.
What happened to Inigo Montoya? Well, you'll have to go back and watch the movie again (or for the first time!).
